আসসালামু অলাইকুম।
"বন্ধু পাঠশালা"-তে আপনাকে স্বাগতম।
আমরা দেখে থাকি আমাদের দেশে স্কুলগুলোতে বিভিন্ন কোম্পানির ইংরেজি গ্রামার বই পড়িয়ে থাকে। সেই গ্রামার বই গুলোতে আবার এক-এক শ্রেণির জন্য আলাদাভাবে গ্রামারগুলো আলোচনা করা হয়। এতে করে শিক্ষার্থীদের অনেক সময় বুঝতে কষ্ট হয়। সে কথা মাথায় রেখে আমরা সকল শ্রেণির উপযোগী একটি "ইংরেজি গ্রামার বই" তৈরি করেছি। সেটার নাম দিয়েছি "বিপি ইজি ইংলিশ গ্রামার"। "বন্ধু পাঠশালা"-এর পাঠকদের জন্য আমরা সেটা সিজির আকারে আলোচনা করছি।
আজ থাকছে ৫ম পর্ব। এ পর্বে জানা যাবে:-
Preposition কাকে বলে? কত প্রকার ও কি কি? প্রত্যেক প্রকারের উদাহরণসহ বিস্তারিত আলোচনা। চলুন তবে শুরু করা যাক:-

Preposition বা সম্বন্ধসূচক অব্যয়
Pre শব্দের অর্থ পূর্বে এবং Position শব্দের অর্থ অবস্থান। যে Word কোন noun বা pronoun এর আগে বসে ঐ noun বা pronoun এর সঙ্গে বাক্যের অন্য Word এর সম্পর্ক নির্দেশ করে তাকে Preposition বা সম্বন্ধসূচক অব্যয় বলে।
In এর ব্যবহার:-
<> ব্যাপক সময়/মাস/বছর, বড় স্থান, বিবেচনায়/ দৃষ্টিপাত, অবস্থা, ক্ষেত্রে, বিরাজমান অবস্তা বোঝাতে In বসে।
যেমন:-
i. He will come in the evening.
ii. They live in Dhaka.
iii. He did it in his own interest.
iv. The factory is running in good health.
v. In this case, In am not guilty at all.
vi. He is not in good health.
At এর ব্যবহার:-
<> কোন কিছুর দিকে তেড়ে আসা, নিদিষ্ট সময়, দায়িক্ত, ছোট স্থান, লক্ষ্য, মাত্রা/গতি, মূল্য/পরিমাণ, তাকান/বিদ্রুপ বোঝাতে At বসে।
যেমন:-
i. The dog barked at me.
ii. He will come at 5 pm.
iii. He did it at his own responsibility.
iv. Mim lives at afra.
v. He aimed at the tiger.
vi. The horse ran at high speed.
vii. The car has been priced at 40 lacs.
viii. We should not laugh at the poor.
On এর ব্যবহার :-
<> উপরে, নিদিষ্ট দিন/ তারিখ, অনুসারে, উপলক্ষ/কারণে, বিষয়ে/সম্বন্ধে, নির্ভরশীলতা, কোন ঘটনার ফলশ্রুতি বোঝাতে On বসে ।
যেমন:-
i. The book is on the table.
ii. He will come on the 15th of this month.
iii. He got the job on my request.
iv. I thank you on your success.
v. Tanvir wrote a book on English.
vi. The cow lives on grass.
vii. On reading the letter, Eva started working.

Of এর ব্যবহার :-
<> জাত/জন্ম, কোন কিছু জানা সম্পর্কে/বিষয়ে, মৃত্যুর কারণ, সংযোগ স্থান, অধিকারভুক্ত, কোন কিছু তৈরি উপকরণ/ জিনিস, জ্ঞাণের অভাব বোঝাতে Of বসে।
যেমন:-
i. He comes of a poor family.
ii. I know nothing of it.
iii. Rohim died of Covid-19
iv. He live in the city of Narail.
v. This is the car of my father.
vi. The house is made of bamboo.
vii. He is devoid of humanity.
By এর ব্যবহার :-
<> কোন কিছুর পাশে, কাছাকাছি/ভবিষ্যৎ নিদিষ্ট সময়, শপথ করা, কোন কিছু অনুসারে, কোন কিছুর মাধ্যমে/দ্বারা, পরিমাপ তুলনা, কাজের ধরণ, যাতায়াত/গমন বোঝাতে By বসে।
যেমন :-
i. Rimi sat by me.
ii. I shall come hear by 4pm.
iii. Karim swore by Allah that he would never tall a lie.
iv. Now it is 10am by my watch.
v. The work has been done by him.
vi. Our cussing room is 15 feet by 10 feet.
vii. The teacher pulled the boy by the ear.
viii. We went to Jashore from Dhaka by bus.
To এর ব্যবহার :-
<> প্রতি, উদ্দেশ্যে, পরিনাম, অনুপাত, পর্যন্ত, দিকে/কাছে, অনুযায়ী, সীমানার বাইরে বোঝাতে To বসে।
যেমন:-
i. Be kind to the poor.
ii. We invited him to dinner.
iii. Socrates was sentenced to death.
iv. Ten to one will he succeed.
v. The freedom fighters fought to the last drop of blood.
vi. Badol come to me.
vii. He performed the job to my liking.
viii. India is to the west of Bangladesh.
With এর ব্যবহার :-
<> সাথে/দিয়ে, সত্ত্বেও, উপর, মনোভাব, ত্যাগ করা, মালিকানা, পরপরই বোঝাতে With বসে।
যেমন :-
i. He killed the snake with a stick.
ii. With all her riches, she is unhappy.
iii. Don’t be angry with me.
iv. He looked at me with satisfaction.
v. Do not part with such a good man.
vi. The book is with my sister.
vii. With these words, he went away.
For এর ব্যবহার :-
<> পরিবর্তে, অভিমুখে/দিকে, বিনিময়ে, পক্ষে/সমর্থনে, জন্য/কারণে, সত্ত্বেও, সময়ের ব্যাপ্তি, মনে করা, অনুপাতে বোঝাতে For বসে।
যেমন :-
i. He acted for me.
ii. He left for home.
iii. He sold his car for tk.20Lac.
iv. I will not speak for you.
v. I could not go to school for my illness.
vi. For all his wealth, he is dissatisfild.
vii. I have been reading for two hours.
viii. I took him for a good man.
ix. The boy was pardoned for his age.
From এর ব্যবহার :-
<> হতে, থেকে, উৎস, আদ্যোপান্ত, প্রভেদ বোঝাতে From বসে।
যেমন:-
i. He has returned from abroad.
ii. He went away from me.
iii. We draw inspiration from our national anthem.
iv. The doctore examined me from head to foot.
v. What is the difference between red from orange.
About এর ব্যবহার:-
<> কোন কিছুর/ব্যাক্তির বিষয়ে/সম্পর্কে, প্রায়, চারিদিকে, উপলক্ষে বোঝাতে About বসে।
যেমন:-
i. I know everything about him./ I told you everything about this matter.
ii. This stick is about six inches long.
iii. The news of his death spread all about.
iv. I talked to him about our business.
Above এর ব্যবহার
উপরে/উপরিস্থিত, উচ্চাসন/খ্যাতি, উৎকৃষ্ট, বেশি/অধিক, অপেক্ষা/তুলনা বোঝাতে Above বসে।
যেমন:-
i. The sky is above us.
ii. He is above in socity.
iii. He is above all corruptions.
iv. Now the time is above 10am.
v. Character is above everything.
After এর ব্যবহার:-
নিদিষ্ট সময়ের পরে, পিছু পিছু, মতে/মতানুসারে, অনুসারে, সত্বেও বোঝাতে After বসে।
যেমন:-
i. I come/came/will come after 6pm. [All Tense]
ii. We left the place after the meeting.
iii. The dog run after the fox.
iv. We took decision after his view.
v. The shirt is after my choice.
vi. After all he is a good man.
Against এর ব্যবহার:-
বিরুদ্ধে, পাশে অবস্থান, সংস্থান, স্থলে, প্রতিকূলে বোঝাতে Against বসে।
যেমন:-
i. He is working against me.
ii. He kept the bag against the wall.
iii. We should save something against the rainy day.
iv. Fifty students passed against seventy.
v. He swimming against the current.
Behind এর ব্যবহার:-
পিছনে, অসাক্ষাতে, বিলম্ব বোঝাতে Behind বসে।
যেমন:-
i. He told many things behind me.
ii. We should not speak ill of one behind his back.
iii. We reached the station behind time.
Before এর ব্যবহার:-
সম্মুখে, চেয়ে, নিদিষ্ট সময়ের পূর্বে বোঝাতে Before বসে।
যেমন:-
i. He stood before me.
ii. Prevention before cure.
iii. We left the place before he come.
